Description

The testing room at Portland Cement Works Precinct sits largely as it was left

Discarded equipment and a layer of dust are all that remain of a working laboratory

A cast iron gear and drum assembly sits on a heavy timber frame inside the four-storey mill at Jembaicumbene

Quarrying here from around 1905 until 2002 cut more than 100 m through a Jurassic volcanic neck

Chaplain's Office at Rozelle

Hallway white brick The testing room at PortlandA long hallway runs the length of the residence at Big Hill Post Office, connecting the living area to the kitchen and dining rooms. Paint peels from the walls in broad strips; light from a doorway at the far end catches dust hanging in the still air. The building served as both post office and postmaster's home from 1 November 1869 until its closure in 1945. Part of the Big Hill Post Office series.
