No one realized it at the time, but the fossil was unlike any other, and proved to be a new species. Named Bambiraptor, it looked similar to a modern bird, and was a fierce hunter that may have preyed on small mammals and reptiles. The idea that birds are living dinosaurs has been accepted by most paleontologists for some time. But the discovery of Bambiraptor has led to some
