Description

This is the second time I have had this dress in the shop and I think I love it even more this time around

It has that bit of a current Saint Laurent flare to it and the length means it can top just above anything

I know that one day I will stumble across a photo of it in an old Vogue or Harper's and the girl lucky enough to have grabbed it will be happy with a surprise email from me

The thread at the back is done to follow the color but it does appear that the fabric was deliberately dyed like this prior to the application of the bead-work

The wonderful little piece merges a top with a jacket perfectly and is a beautiful example of Ferre's work during his time as Creative Director for Dior

Museum Held 1975 Hubert de Givenchy Haute Couture One Shoulder Silk Dress w Matching Cape designer-rosie-assoulin This is the second timeThe twin of this dress is held in the permanent archives of The Metropolitan Museum. It would not surprise me to find out that these were the only two samples of this dress in existence. True Haute Couture pieces were never produced in any significant quantities. The dress is as wearable now as it was when first made and feels very modern. It is entirely finished by hand and is from the time period when the house was run by Hubert de Givenchy himself.
