Its surprising that something as simple as a pictorial warning can make some people quit. In the 2014-2015 study, the researchers recruited 2,149 adult smokers in North Carolina and California and randomly assigned them to receive on their cigarette packs for four weeks either a text-only warning (one of the current warnings on the side of cigarette packs in the United States) or a pictorial warning (one of the proposed warnings with pictures on the top half of the front and back of cigarette packs)
